My son played in the Cap City Little League in the American League and Minor League for three years - from fall of 2005 through spring 2008. During the last three baseball seasons, I managed the Minor League Nationals. One measure of my commitment to CCLL is that I managed this recent fall season even though my son was not on the team. I have a good hands-on sense of how the league functions at the most basic and important level - the game itself - and an understanding of what makes a successful experience for players of all abilities.
If elected, I would be willing to serve as Treasurer. I have spoken to the incumbent Treasurer in order to acquire an understanding of what that position entails. I was the Lafayette Home and School Association Treasurer for four years, from academic years starting in 2004 and ending June 2008, where I was responsible for handling all aspects of a non-profit budget of over $300,000.
With no child presently in the League, I would bring a balanced perspective to various issues that may arise.
I have worked for the Department of Justice for over 20 years, and grew up in Bethesda. As a kid I went to Senators games at (then) D.C. Stadium and went to opening day with my dad one year to see President Johnson throw out the first pitch (from behind the dugout in those days).
