David Schauer

Name:  David A. Schauer

Family: My wife (Krista) and I have three sons (Adam – 10; Zachary – 9 and Luke – 6), and we all love baseball.  Adam plays for the Giants in the Majors, Zachary plays for the Nationals in the Minors and Luke plays for the Rockies in the National Division.

Service and Experience: I managed the American Division Red Sox for three seasons, and I am currently assisting with the Majors Giants, Minors Nats and National Division Rockies.  I have served on the Board for two years, and for the past year I have been privileged to serve as Vice President.  I have enjoyed working with the other Board members and the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) to improve CCLL’s fields and the access to and quality of baseball and softball across the city.

Vision: I played baseball from Little League through college, and I know the value of playing in a well-organized and competitive league.  This should include well-maintained fields for all of the divisions, coaches’ clinics, and broad community support and involvement.  I will continue to work closely with the other Board members and the CCLL families to ensure a positive, community-oriented experience for everyone.

Goals: I have three goals that I would like to accomplish during the 2009 to 2010 seasons:

  1. fully engage managers, coaches, parents and grandparents in all aspects of running the league;
  2. expand CCLL’s involvement with other little leagues in DC; and
  3. partner with DPR, DCPS and other baseball organizations (e.g., Playball DC , Headfirst, Homerun) to capitalize on the benefits of strong academic and athletic programs.
