National Division
This is Cap City’s league for its youngest players. 5 and 6 year old players are introduced to the basics of hitting, catching, throwing, fielding and base running in a non-competitive environment. Each player has the opportunity to come to bat and run the bases each inning. The player’s coach will pitch (soft toss) to the player. Outs are not kept at this level.
Teams practice and play games once a week at Macomb Park located at 3409 Macomb Street, NW. Games are typically on Saturday or Sunday afternoons. Practices are usually during the week.
American Division
The American Division is for 7 and 8 year olds whose skills range from those who are new to the game to others who are continuing to refine the basics of hitting, catching, throwing, fielding and base running. This is a coach/machine pitch league where outs and score are kept for the first time.
Teams usually practice and play games once a week at Lafayette Field located behind Lafayette Elementary School. Games are typically on Saturday afternoon or weekdays with practices on Sunday afternoon or weekdays.
Majors Division
The Majors division is comprised of players who have demonstrated skills commensurate with the highest level of play that CCLL has to offer. The Majors division has faster/better pitching and overall higher quality of play than the Minors. Although players age 9 and 10 are eligible to play in the Majors, most of the players in the Majors are league age 11 or 12. Majors teams will generally have two games and one practice per week, nearly all at Chevy Chase.
Minors Division
The Minors division tends to be a little less competitive than the Majors and sometimes play is altered to enhance the game day experience (for example, limited stealing early in the season). For the youngest Minors players, this is usually the first time they are pitching, learning to hit kid pitch, and playing with umpires calling balls and strikes. Minors teams have one game and one practice per week. Most games and practices are held at Forest Hills or Upshur.
